WebJust throwing in an article. Anandtech did a really good one about Power8's multi-threading. It actually scales surprisingly well. I doubt enthusiast, workstation and some non-specialized server grade CPUs will ever be 8 threads per core but 4 thread per core is plausible (if not artifically market segmented; think AMD EPYC and X299/X399 platforms).
